A bus with illegal migrants caught fire in Turkey

Twelve people were killed and 20 injured in a bus accident with illegal migrants on Sunday in the Muradiye district of Van province in eastern Turkey, the Anadolu Agency reports.

It is reported that as a result of the accident, the bus caught fire. Employees of the Department for Emergency Situations and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, police officers, and medics were sent to the scene of the incident. The wounded were taken to nearby hospitals.

The province of Van, which borders Iran, is a transit point for migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan who illegally cross the Turkish border and try to move to EU countries.
