A cartridge with the video game 1996 Super Mario Bros. was sold at Heritage Auctions for a record $ 1.56 million, according to the auction house on Twitter.

In early April, the auction house announced the sale of a 1986 Super Mario cartridge for 660 thousand dollars. The price of the cartridge set a world record among video game sales.

It is noted that the cartridge was preserved in a sealed plastic package. In the description of the lot, the auction house indicated that the condition of the video game is so excellent that it “takes your breath away.”

Super Mario Bros. game one of the first released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console in the United States and became the best-selling for it. This model is the first in a series of video games about Super Mario Bros. In addition, the main negative character of the game – Bowser – appears in it for the first time.
