A lost American mountaineer was found on Elbrus

Rescuers found an American climber who got lost on Elbrus at an altitude of about five thousand meters, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kabardino-Balkaria reported.

He was discovered at about nine o’clock in the evening. At ten o’clock, the rescue work was completed.

“A climber from the United States was lowered down to the Azau glade; he does not need medical assistance,” the press service noted.

On Sunday, rescuers received an SOS signal from a lost U.S. citizen via a satellite system. It was located on Elbrus at an altitude of 4957 meters. Four rescuers of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue squad of the EMERCOM of Russia went in search of the climber.
