A new coronavirus mutation has been discovered

Doctors from the Public Health Agency of England (PHE) have found a new strain of coronavirus in Britons. This is written by the Mirror.

“To date, 16 cases of infection with the B.1.621 mutation have been detected in the country. Most of them are associated with trips abroad,” the experts said.

Now doctors from PHE are conducting laboratory tests of this variant of SARS-CoV-2 to better understand the effect of the mutation on the behavior of the virus.

Doctors do not yet know for sure whether the strain B.1.621. reduces the effectiveness of vaccines.

At the moment, the “delta” mutation of the coronavirus is the most common in the world. It has already been identified in almost all European countries. The World Health Organization noted that it will dominate the planet in the coming months and displace the circulation of other variants if a more competitive virus does not appear.
