A rally in support of Palestine was held in Paris

A demonstration in support of Palestine was held on Saturday at the Place de la Republique in Paris.

About a thousand people, according to the correspondent’s estimates, gathered in the square at 15.00 to express dissatisfaction with Israel’s policy and support Palestine.

The demonstration this time took place with the consent of the authorities. The crowd chanted, “Israel is a killer”, “Freedom for Palestine,” “Palestine will win.” Demonstrators unfurled a huge Palestinian flag in the middle of the square. The action was held peacefully.

Representatives of the Arab diaspora, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the Communist Party, anarchists, as well as French sympathizers attended the action.

Last Saturday, an unauthorized demonstration in support of Palestine took place in the Barbes district of Paris, which resulted in violent clashes between demonstrators and police. The aggressive crowd threw bottles, wooden boards, firecrackers, burned garbage cans, and the police responded by spraying tear gas and using water cannons. Later, the clashes intensified: in response to provocations from the demonstrators, the police began firing rubber bullets at them. As a result of the demonstration in Paris, 44 people were detained, one police officer was injured. According to the French Interior Ministry, then 22 thousand people took part in pro-Palestinian actions throughout France, in Paris – 2.5-3.5 thousand people.
