Russian businessman Roman Abramovich said that he handed over the management of the Chelsea football club to the trustees of the charity fund of the London team.
“For almost 20 years of owning Chelsea, I have always viewed my role at the club as a caretaker whose job it is to ensure that we are as successful as we can be, as well as building the future while playing a positive role in our communities. I have always made decisions based on the interests of the club. I remain committed to these values. That is why today I am handing over the management and care of Chelsea to the trustees of the club’s charitable foundation. I believe they are currently in the best position to take care of the interests of the club, the players, the staff and the fans,” Abramovich is quoted as saying on Chelsea’s website.
