Computer and electronics manufacturer Acer was attacked by hackers using the ransomware REvil. They are demanding one of the largest ransoms in history – $50 million.

The other day, hackers announced on their website that they had hacked Acer. As proof, they shared images of the allegedly stolen files. In the hands of the attackers, apparently, there were financial tables and other documents.

Acer said only that they “reported recent abnormal situations” to the relevant law enforcement agencies. The company also noted that it is constantly improving its cybersecurity infrastructure.

Curiously, the ransomware offered Acer a 20% discount on payment soon. After receiving the money, the hackers promise to provide a decryptor, a vulnerability report, and removal of the stolen files.
