Aerosmith will transfer the rights to all the band’s music to Universal Music Group

The parties to the deal plan to soon reveal the details of new joint creative plans.

The American rock band Aerosmith and the recording corporation Universal Music Group (UMG) have signed a deal to transfer the rights to the entire discography, merch, and the group’s audiovisual projects to the company. This was reported on Monday by Variety magazine.

According to him, the work on the future musical projects of the group, the development, production, and distribution of new films, television shows, and other audiovisual materials dedicated to the history of Aerosmith will continue to be carried out on Universal Music Group. “This will allow us to bring our music to our fans in a way that we have never been able to before. This is what we have been dreaming about for a long time. This is a victory for Aerosmith, UMG, and, ultimately, for our fans,” commented Joe Perry, guitarist, and co-founder of Aerosmith.

The chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group said that he was “very proud” that the band had chosen them as a partner. According to the statement, the parties to the deal plan to soon disclose the details of new joint creative plans.

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 by Steven Tallarico (Tyler), Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton, later joined by guitarist Brad Whitford and drummer Joe Kramer. In 1973, the rockers recorded their debut self-titled album. Over the 50 years of its existence, Aerosmith has released 15 albums that have sold a total of more than 150 million copies worldwide. The latest disc of Music from Another Dimension!  was released in 2012.

The band is the winner of four Grammy Awards. She had a strong influence on developing various musical trends, combining elements of hard rock, heavy metal, pop, glam, and blues in her work. In 2001, the band members were included in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” and Rolling Stone magazine and VH1 TV channel included them in the list of the 100 greatest musicians of all time (100 Greatest Artists of All Time).
