The second generation of AMD’s open source FidelityFX Super Resolution technology will work on graphics cards from all manufacturers. CapFrameX, the developer of capturing and analysis software, announced this on Twitter.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 will offer its users improved timing and optimized anti-aliasing. However, the exact parameters of the technology will be announced soon.
The developer from CapFrameX has already seen the results of FSR 2.0, he claims that the technology shows impressive performance and image quality, in addition, all this still does without the support of AI.
- “FSR 2.0 will be coming soon. Today I saw the first shots. Very impressive.
- Temporal upscaling + optimized anti-aliasing
- No need for AI
- Works on GPUs from all manufacturers
- Impressive performance and image quality
AMD even claims that this technology can be better than native.”
FidelityFX Super Resolution is a temporal image scaling technology developed by AMD. It allows real-time upscaling of lower-resolution images to higher resolutions for display on higher-quality screens in video games.
It was previously reported that AMD may introduce FSR 2.0 as part of the announcement of the RDNA 3-based Radeon RX 7000 series. As part of the 2022 Game Developers Conference, scheduled for March 21-25, AMD will host a session titled “Next Generation Imaging for Gaming”.
