An asteroid with a diameter of up to 200 m will fly near the Earth on May 14

NASA experts do not consider the celestial body dangerous for our planet.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has warned of an asteroid with a diameter of 88 to 200 m approaching the Earth.

As reported on the website of the Center for Near-Earth Space Objects Research (CNEOS) of NASA, on May 14, a celestial body named 2015 KJ19, whose size is comparable to the height of the American symbol – the Statue of Liberty, will approach the distance of 5.77 million km to our planet at about 06:04, which is more than 15 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon. The asteroid’s flight speed is about 83 thousand km/h.

CNEOS experts do not consider the celestial body dangerous for our planet. In general, NASA does not consider objects with a diameter of fewer than 152 m or flying at a distance of more than 7.55 million km as potentially dangerous. The approach to Earth of celestial bodies comparable in size to 2015 KJ19 will take place on May 27 and July 1, but according to scientists ‘ calculations, they will also fly at a safe distance from our planet.
