The App Store will moderate applications related to the coronavirus. Developers who are trying to place services to help the public during a pandemic are asked to tick the box “sensitive event”.

Apple has introduced additional precautions that are associated with the outbreak of coronavirus. This time they will touch the App Store – the company explained that it will take steps to additionally check the applications, which are dedicated to the pandemic, as it “begins to affect all aspects of the lives of people around the world”.

“We critically evaluate applications to ensure that their data sources are authoritative, and that the developers who represent these applications are representatives of authoritative organizations — such as government or nongovernmental organizations involved in healthcare, companies with in-depth knowledge of healthcare , as well as medical or educational institutions”, Apple explained.

In addition to evaluating content and limiting the number of developers who can apply for an application, the company also prohibits the release of entertainment games that seek to capitalize on a “life-threatening theme”.

Apple also asked coronavirus application developers to check the “sensitive event” option to help speed content moderation, given that some of them may be aimed at assisting users with the spread of the virus.
