Five months after the announcement of the HomePod mini, two hidden sensors were discovered in Apple’s smart speaker.
This was reported by the American edition of Bloomberg. This is a temperature and humidity sensor. IFixit specialists disassembled the column and confirmed their presence. For example, the temperature sensor is manufactured by Texas Instruments Inc. It has a size of 1.5 x 1.5 mm and is located next to the power cable.
It seems that with the help of such sensors Apple is going to expand the capabilities of the smart speaker. Thanks to them, HomePod mini will automatically change the temperature of the thermostat or turn on the hood, depending on the humidity in the room.
So far, both sensors are software locked, but Apple is likely to activate them via software updates.
