Eight more people were injured.
An accident at drag racing competitions – car racing in a straight line – held in the city of Kerrville (Texas) claimed the lives of two children on Saturday; eight more people were injured of varying severity. The city police reported this.
During the event, which was held on the runway of the city airport, the car of one of the competitors lost control and crashed into the spectators’ cars parked nearby. “Two people died in the accident: a six-year-old boy died on the spot, an eight-year-old boy was taken to Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, where his death was announced,” the law enforcement officials said in a Facebook post.
Of the eight injured, two men and two women with serious injuries were airlifted to local hospitals. Four more, including two children, received non-life-threatening injuries.
The police are investigating the causes of the incident.
