Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said that his country intends to achieve the return of Nagorno-Karabakh, which could lead to the conflict on the border with Armenia turning into full-scale hostilities.

“Yesterday’s escalation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border is nothing new or sensational. I have said many times, as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said that Azerbaijan will never accept the loss of 20% of its territory. We are not even talking about Nagorno-Karabakh; we are not talking about someone who wants to expel people of Armenian nationality from there. We are talking about the fact that 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan is occupied. Do you think that a ten-million-strong, rich, developed infrastructure and the armed country will allow its area to be occupied for an infinite amount of time? This is impossible, “the Ambassador said.

According to him, peace talks do not yield any results. In this regard, Polad Bulbuloglu did not rule out the beginning of full-scale hostilities in the region.

“As long as the Azerbaijani territory is occupied, such incidents are inevitable. We also discussed this in 2016, when there were active military operations. Unfortunately, large countries, our neighbors, are trying to freeze this conflict so that it will last indefinitely. Negotiations cannot be conducted for the sake of negotiations. Negotiations must produce results. If they do not produce results, then naturally there will be military actions. Therefore, the position must be clear once and for all. I am surprised that it is not heard; it is not understood. We have said this many times that the Azerbaijani people will never accept the loss of their territories. We are talking about the withdrawal of foreign troops from the territory of Azerbaijan. And as long as they are on the territory of Azerbaijan, such conflicts will continue and one day may turn into a large-scale war, which will be a disaster for the entire region,” he said.

The Ambassador stressed that Baku would not allow the creation of a “second Armenian state on the territory of the South Caucasus.”

We will remind, on Sunday, around noon, an armed clash took place on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Three Azerbaijani armed forces soldiers were killed and five others were injured.
