A turkey meal is one of the traditions of the holiday.

On the occasion of Thanksgiving, which is celebrated on Thursday, U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden laid out portions of turkey and sweet potatoes for holiday packages at the D.C. Central Kitchen, a Washington organization that prepares fresh meals for schools and homeless shelters.

They were joined by Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, who were laying out green beans and gravy.

Chef Jose Andres joined the two couples. Altogether, as well as the staff of the organization, they collected festive food packages.

On Thursday, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with a traditional meal that often includes stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, and other dishes.

When asked by reporters what he is grateful for, Biden said: “For the people who stand next to me.”
