The U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday informed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy about the allocation to Kyiv of a new package of U.S. military assistance worth $ 1 billion. This is stated in the statement of the American leader, distributed on Wednesday by the press service of the White House.
He noted that he had discussed Russia’s special operation in Ukraine with Zelenskiy by phone. As follows from the document, Biden “reaffirmed his commitment” to “the United States helping Ukraine at a time when it defends its democratic system, as well as supporting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” We are talking about the allocation of military aid to Ukraine “for another $ 1 billion.”
“Today I am also announcing the allocation of an additional $225 million for humanitarian assistance to help people in Ukraine, in particular, to provide them with drinking water, essential drugs and medicines, food, shelter and money with which families can buy what they need,” Biden said.
It is noted that the package of military assistance includes “additional artillery weapons and coastal defense systems, as well as ammunition for artillery and modern missile systems that Ukrainians need to support defensive operations in the Donbass.”
