Biden called on Americans to unite in the fight against COVID-19

The President said that America is entering a “summer of joy and freedom” from the coronavirus pandemic.

US President Joe Biden is concerned that the country’s population is divided into two categories: vaccinated people and people who are not yet vaccinated.

“I don’t want our country, which is already too divided, to be divided again into places where people live without fear of the coronavirus, and places where… high mortality and severe disease are returning, ” the president said, announcing new initiatives at the White House to encourage US residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Vaccination has nothing to do with party preferences,” Biden added, noting that the production of vaccines began under a Republican president and continued after the arrival of a Democratic president in the White House,” We need one America-united and free from fear.”

Biden has instructed his administration to ensure that at least 70% of American adults receive at least one dose of the vaccine by July 4, US Independence Day. Currently, this figure is 63%.

As the pace of vaccination against COVID-19 has begun to slow, including in some places where ethnic and racial minorities live, Biden highlighted the Shots at the Shop program, which already involves more than 1,000 private hairdressers and beauty salons. In June, the masters of these salons will undergo vaccination training, and then they will be able to vaccinate their clients directly in beauty salons across the country.

“Hairdressers, beauty salons are centers of attraction and information, especially in African-American and mixed communities,” Biden said, speaking at the White House.

In June, which is declared National Action Month by the administration, “national organizations, municipal leaders, community and religious organizations, businesses, employers, prominent bloggers, celebrities, athletes, colleges, youth, and thousands of volunteers will join the vaccination effort,” the White House said.

“America is entering a summer that will be very different from last year’s summer – a summer of freedom, a summer of joy, a summer of gatherings and celebrations. The all-American summer that this country deserves after the long, long, dark winter that we all endured,” Biden said.

Two of the largest American organizations in the field of child care, offer parents and caregivers free vaccination in more than 2,500 locations.

Some pharmacies this month will be open on Friday night to expand vaccination coverage.

“We’re going to continue to encourage people to get vaccinated with rewards and interesting awards,” Biden added.

Among the private sector initiatives that the White House has already approved to accelerate the pace of vaccination:

– A nationwide pharmacy chain has announced a prize draw for vaccinated people with the possibility of winning cruise ships, cash prizes, and other rewards;

– Major Professional Baseball League distributes free tickets to those who have been vaccinated, as well as offers to get vaccinated in stadiums;

– The supermarket chain will offer dozens of vaccinated customers free food during the year;

– The airline offers frequent flyers who have been vaccinated to win a year of free flights or a round-trip flight for two in any class of service. Biden also announced Wednesday the start of a national vaccination campaign tour in the South and Midwest, led by Vice President Kamala Harris, who will be accompanied on the trips by her husband Doug Emhoff, First Lady Jill Biden, and members of the president’s cabinet.
