Restrictions are also imposed on representatives of the management of Nord Stream 2 AG.

The U.S. President Joe Biden has ordered his administration to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the “Nord Stream-2” gas pipeline, and representatives of its management.

“Today I have ordered my administration to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG and officials of this organization,” the American leader said in a written statement issued by the White House on Wednesday.

“These steps are another component of our initial portion of sanctions in response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine. As I have made clear, we will not hesitate to take further steps if Russia continues to escalate,” Biden added. In his opinion, Moscow’s actions “gave the world a direct incentive to switch from Russian gas to other energy sources.”

In his statement, the U.S. President also thanked German Chancellor Olaf Stolz “for close cooperation and unwavering commitment to holding the Russian Federation accountable for its actions.”
