The disaster affected primarily the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee. Dozens of people died.
U.S. President Joe Biden ordered federal resources to be directed to the neediest areas after a series of tornadoes and severe weather conditions in seven U.S. states, the White House said.
Biden was briefed on the devastating tornadoes by Deanne Criswell, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), White House Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall and other senior officials, the statement said.
Many dozens of people died as a result of a series of tornadoes that swept through several U.S. states on Friday evening. Usually such natural disasters and extensive destruction are observed in the spring.
