The players presented the U.S. president with a hockey jersey with his name and number 46 as a souvenir.

On Monday, US President Joe Biden traditionally received the current champions of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Tampa team, at the White House.

“We are gathered here today to congratulate the winners of the Stanley Cup. <…> It is a great honor for me that you are all here,” Biden said during the solemn event. In turn, the players presented the 46th President of the United States with a hockey jersey with his name and number 46 as a souvenir.

Tampa has three hockey players from Russia: forward Nikita Kucherov, defender Mikhail Sergachev and goalkeeper Andrey Vasilevsky. According to The Associated Press, they were all present at the event.

Tampa has won the Stanley Cup for the last two seasons, and the club also won the trophy in 2004. Celebrations at the White House in honor of the champions of the National Hockey League are a tradition, but due to the pandemic, such events have not been held in the last two years.
