Biden says Putin promised him help in Afghanistan

US President Joe Biden said that he discussed with Russian leader Vladimir Putin how to prevent the rise of terrorism in Afghanistan.

“We talked about how each of us can contribute to join forces to prevent the rise of terrorism in Afghanistan,” Biden said at a news conference after the Russia – US summit in Geneva.

Joe Biden added that Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to help him maintain security in Afghanistan.

“He (Putin) asked us about Afghanistan. He said that he hopes that we can maintain peace and security, and I said that this is largely due to him, and he indicated that he is ready to help in Afghanistan,” Biden said at a press conference following the US – Russia summit in Geneva.
