According to the U.S. President, the current situation has become “another reminder that Europe and the whole world need to transfer more and more of their energy needs to environmentally friendly energy resources.”
The United States will not allow a situation in which Russia would use its energy resources in order to avoid the consequences of sanctions imposed by Western countries. This was stated on Thursday by US President Joe Biden, speaking at the White House with a brief speech about the situation around Ukraine.
He commented on the situation around Russia’s termination of natural gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland. “These actions prove that energy resources are not just raw materials that Russia sells to meet the needs of other countries, but weapons that it uses against those who oppose its aggression. Let me make it clear that we will not allow Russia to intimidate or blackmail in order to circumvent sanctions. We will not allow them to use their oil and gas to avoid the consequences of their aggression. We work with other countries such as [South] Korea, Japan, Qatar and others to support our efforts to help European allies, whom Russia threatens with gas blackmail, and their energy needs in other ways,” the head of state claimed.
In his opinion, the current situation has become “another reminder that Europe and the whole world need to transfer more and more of their energy needs to environmentally friendly energy resources.”
