The U.S. President Joe Biden has called for the trial of Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal, the Associated Press reports.

“You saw what happened in Bucha,” Biden said, again calling Putin a “war criminal.” Earlier, he said this about the Russian president in mid-March. The Kremlin then called “unacceptable and inexcusable such rhetoric of the head of state, whose bombs killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world.”

The U.S. President also told reporters that he would seek to impose additional sanctions against Russia after reports of what happened in the territories of Ukraine that were under the control of the Russian military.

“We must continue to supply Ukraine with the weapons it needs to fight. And we have to collect all the details (of what happened in the Kyiv region) for a real trial for war crimes,” Biden added.

At the same time, the American leader refused to call the incident genocide, the Associated Press notes.
