Biden warned of consequences if Navalny dies in prison

US President Joe Biden said that if Alexei Navalny dies in prison, it “will be a tragedy” and prove that “Russia does not intend to respect human rights.”

“Navalny’s death would be another sign that Russia has little or no intention of respecting basic fundamental human rights. It would be a tragedy,” Biden said at a news conference in Brussels, where he attended the NATO summit.

According to the US president, “this would harm relations with the rest of the world.”

“And with me,” he added. Currently, Navalny is in a penal colony – a suspended sentence in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Yves Rocher Company was replaced with real imprisonment due to violations of the conditional sentence regime.
