A ministerial meeting of NATO countries is taking place in Riga.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks with NATO Secretary of State Jens Stoltenberg on the sidelines of the alliance’s ministerial meeting in Riga, the capital of Latvia.

According to the Department of State, Blinken confirmed the unwavering commitment of the United States to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, according to which an attack on one member of the alliance is an attack on all member countries of the defensive alliance.

Blinken and Stoltenberg also discussed the importance of ongoing consultations and alliance unity on all key issues, including support for Ukraine and deterrence of Russian aggression, as well as the development of a new NATO strategic concept, arms control, and regional security.

The U.S. Secretary of State also held talks in Riga with his colleagues – the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Britain. At the talks, according to the Department of State, special attention was paid to the topics of Ukraine and the Iranian nuclear program.
