Blinken announced the readiness of the United States, together with the EU, to impose powerful new sanctions against Russia

The U.S. Secretary of State said this in a conversation with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The United States and the European Union are ready to jointly introduce new restrictive measures against Russia in case of further escalation around Ukraine. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a telephone conversation with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

“Today, the U.S. Secretary of State <…> spoke with the EU High Representative Josep Borrell. The Secretary of State confirmed the readiness of the United States, in coordination with the EU and partners, to impose additional powerful sanctions…> in case of further Russian invasion of Ukraine,” the U.S. Department of State said in a statement released on Wednesday.
