The Embassy of Qatar in Afghanistan will represent the interests of the United States. This was stated during a briefing by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The head of the Department of State revealed that, according to the agreement between Washington and Doha, a U.S. interests section will be created at the Qatari embassy in Kabul. In the future, consular services will be provided with the help of it. The White House also expects that this will allow “monitoring the state of U.S. diplomatic property in Afghanistan.”
In the same speech, Blinkin said that the U.S. government could not answer the question of whether sanctions would be imposed against Belarus in connection with what was happening on the border with Poland. At the same time, Washington is already looking for tools with which to “sort out” the official Minsk.
