Blinken told Maas that the United States opposes the “Nord stream-2”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday in a telephone conversation with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the United States opposes the “Nord stream-2” project. This is stated in a written statement by the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price, distributed following the talks.

“Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Maas discussed the importance of transatlantic cooperation to respond to the challenges posed by China and Russia, to take measures to help de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and to ensure the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in an appropriate manner. Secretary Blinken stressed the importance of the US commitment to working with allies and partners to counter Russian efforts to undermine our collective security, and in this regard indicated that the US opposes the “Nord stream-2″ pipeline,” the diplomat argued. The United States will continue to study the organizations involved in the “Nord Stream-2,” and warns of the risk of sanctions, the statement said.
