The former U.S. President spoke with the President of Ukraine via video link.

Former U.S. President George W. Bush said that he had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, whom he called “The Winston Churchill of our time.”

“I thanked the president for his leadership, his example and his commitment to freedom, and I paid tribute to the courage of the Ukrainian people,” Bush tweeted, accompanying the message with photos of the conversation that took place via video link.

“President Zelenskiy assured me that Ukrainians will not falter in their fight against Putin’s barbarism and banditry. Americans are inspired by their resilience and perseverance. We will continue to support Ukrainians defending their freedom,” Bush said.
