One and a half million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca will arrive in Canada from the United States by the end of March. This was announced on Thursday by the Canadian Minister of Public Works and Procurement Anita Anand on CTV.
She confirmed earlier information that the United States will lend Canada 1.5 million doses of the vaccine. “We are confident that they will arrive [in Canada] very soon,” Anand said. – Now, by the end of March, we will receive a total of 9.5 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine (previously planned 8 million).
According to the minister, the parties are currently settling the latest issues on the deal. She added that Canada would return 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca to the United States when it receives the promised 20 million doses of the vaccine from this manufacturer.
Earlier on Thursday, Reuters reported that the US authorities plan to send 4 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine to AstraZeneca in Mexico and Canada. The latter was planned to transfer 1.5 million doses.
