The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that the negotiations between Turkey and the United States on the supply of F-16 aircraft are progressing well.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had invited him to visit Washington on May 18.

“We are negotiating with the United States on the purchase of new types of F-16, they are going well. They still express dissatisfaction with the S-400 purchased from the Russian Federation, but recognize that the implementation of this deal is important for NATO. We also have problems with which we are very uncomfortable, especially with regard to the support of the United States [Kurdish units] of the “People’s Self-Defense Forces”, which threatens our national security. Blinken invited me to visit Washington on May 18 to participate in a meeting at the level of foreign ministers,” the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed following the meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance foreign ministers in Brussels on April 6 and 7.
