The countries of the European Union have not been able to reach a consensus on leadership positions in the European Commission because of disagreements on geographical and gender balance. On Monday the Chancellor of Austria, Brigitte Bierlein announced after an emergency EU summit.
“We have not been able to achieve unity, in particular on issues that are very important to me and everyone else: geographical balance, gender balance, respect for the principle of the majority and the results of the elections to the European Parliament,” Bierlein told reporters.
According to her, on Tuesday will be a new meeting of the EU, which may be able to take a decision.
Earlier, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk suspended the emergency EU summit to identify key community posts and moved it on Tuesday.
