Cheaper than Tesla Model X: Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover will start at less than $60,000

A week after the announcement of the Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover, General Motors announced how much the new product will cost.

Information was shared by Steve Carlisle, President of General Motors North America. The Cadillac Lyriq will start at less than $60,000, he said. Consequently, it will be cheaper than its main competitor – Tesla Model X. For this model, they are now asking in the United States from $ 74,000 (Long Range Plus equipment with a power reserve of about 560 km).

In case you didn’t know, the Cadillac Lyriq is General Motors’ first electric car. While this is just a concept car, the manufacturer says the production version will be 80-85% the same.

The car is built on a new platform that General Motors has developed specifically for electric vehicles. The novelty boasts an attractive appearance, a 33-inch curved screen (combines the dashboard and multimedia), a head-up display with two virtual panels, as well as an almost 100 kWh battery with a range of about 300 miles (~ 482 km). Unfortunately, the company has not yet disclosed engine power and dynamic performance of the car.

If all goes according to plan, the Cadillac Lyriq will hit the market in 2022.
