China successfully launched data relay satellite

China has successfully launched the Tianlian 1-05 relay satellite.

According to China, the launch took place on Tuesday time from the Xichang cosmodrome, Sichuan province, Southwest China.

The satellite is designed to reduce the time of data transmission to Earth from Chinese manned spacecraft “Shenzhou” from the Tiangong space station currently being created in orbit and other spacecraft.

Also, the launch of the satellite will improve the control and measurement of parameters during the launches of Chinese spacecraft. It will be part of China’s global data relay network, which already has four similar devices launched earlier.

In March 2016, the PRC also successfully launched the new generation Tianlian-2-01 transponder satellite.
