The CBC television company reported the death of eight people as a result of hurricane-force winds in southern Canada.
Almost all of the victims died under fallen trees, one woman drowned when her boat got caught in a storm and capsized.
According to the channel, hundreds of thousands of residents of the provinces of Ontario and Quebec were left without electricity. The hurricane swept over the territory of Canada on May 21.
