This will be the company’s first factory in Europe. They plan to launch production as early as 2021.

Elon Musk announced plans to build a Tesla Gigafactory in Germany in the fall of 2019 but was faced with a negative reaction from local residents and human rights activists: they spoke at rallies against deforestation in the future plant. Already in February, all legal issues were settled – and the company began preparatory work, which had to be stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tesla recently announced the resumption of construction, which they plan to complete in 2021. After that, the production of Tesla Model Y cars will begin. It is assumed that the plant will also produce batteries, power plants, and Tesla Model 3 sedans.

In addition to the factory in Berlin, the Mask company is building another in Austin and is also planning to increase production capacity at Gigafactory Shanghai and Gigafactory Nevada. It is expected that they will fulfill the plan for the production of a million electric vehicles per year.

The plant will be located in the municipality of Grünheide, in the state of Brandenburg, near Berlin, and will occupy an area of 300 hectares. The layout can be seen in the published drawings, which Musk submitted to the authorities. He revealed the design recently, showing a render on his Twitter page. Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg has a futuristic design that sets it apart from old factories, and the roof is covered with solar panels.

Under the post, the entrepreneur answered questions from the audience. In particular, he said that he could build a public space on the territory, and also talked about the rooftop pool and the design of hidden chimneys.

According to the official release, the company paid much attention to environmental friendliness of production. She intends to use renewable energy and reduce the amount of drinking water used. In addition, Tesla announced plans to plant a large forest near the plant and build a wagon fleet to move along the railway tracks.
