Thus, Musk supported Epic Games, which is suing Apple. In August last year, a video game developer filed an antitrust lawsuit against a corporation led by Tim Cook after an updated version of Fortnite with a built-in payment mechanism was removed from the App Store catalog. According to Apple, the game can bypass its own payment mechanism, which provides for a commission of up to 30%. “Epic is right,” Musk concluded.
At the end of May, a judge in Oakland (California) said that she hopes to rule on the case of Epic Games and Apple no later than August 13 – a year after the game update that became the subject of the lawsuit was posted on the App Store. Last fall, a court in Oakland was already considering whether Apple should restore access to Fortnite, then the removal of the game was recognized as legitimate.
