Estonia is considering stopping issuing visas to Russians, Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets said on Wednesday.

“Estonia is also considering a unilateral decision to stop issuing visas for Russians. It is reasonable to raise this decision at the level of the European Union so that there is a unified position on this issue,” Liimets said, answering questions from members of parliament.

The Minister noted that those countries that have already decided to ban the issuance of visas have made some exceptions for humanitarian reasons, for example, for family reunification and in other circumstances. “Estonia will also issue visas for humanitarian reasons, we have practically no time to deal with tourist visas,” Liimets added.
