Fabio Fognini suspended for insulting a line judge at a tournament in Barcelona

Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini failed to complete the second round match of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona (Spain).

For the ninth-seeded Fognini, this was the first match in the tournament. He started it extremely unsuccessfully, losing the first nine games in a row to Spaniard Bernaba Zapata-Miralles, who started the competition with qualifications. In the second set, Fabio managed to recoup from 0: 3, but with a score of 4: 4, he was disqualified for insulting the line judge. What exactly caused such a radical decision of the referee remains unknown since the moment was not shown in the broadcast.

For reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona, Zapata-Miralles will play with his compatriot, the sixth-seeded Pablo Carreño-Busto.
