Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was hospitalized in a hospital in California, CNN reports, citing doctors and a representative of the politician.
It is emphasized that his illness is not related to COVID-19, and the reason for hospitalization was blood poisoning.
“He was taken to the hospital already with an infection and did not catch it there. He is being treated with antibiotics, and doctors say that he reacts positively to them,” the TV channel reports.
Doctors added that he spent two days in the hospital.
Attending doctors Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardak clarified that the cause of infection was a urinary tract infection. According to them, such problems in the elderly are not uncommon; they are easily treatable. Doctors also noted that Clinton is being treated in the intensive care unit not for health reasons but for privacy and security reasons.
A Clinton spokeswoman also said that the ex-president is “on the mend.”
William Jefferson (Bill) Clinton was President of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
