French photographer Patrick Demarchelier died on Thursday at the age of 78.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Patrick Demarchelier on March 31, 2022 at the age of 78,” the message on the photographer’s Instagram page says. He is survived by his wife Mia, three sons and three grandchildren.
Patrick Demarchelier was born on August 21, 1943 in the French city of Le Havre. In 1975, he left Paris for New York. Demarchelier collaborated with magazines such as Elle, Marie Claire and Glamour, worked for a long time in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar magazines, participated in shooting advertising campaigns for Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and many other brands. He is also known for a series of pictures of Princess Diana (1961-1997).
