Members of the Belgian government, with whom Jean Castex contacted a few hours before taking the test, were forced to go into quarantine.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex contracted COVID-19, which confirmed the result of a test taken on Monday, a few hours after his return from a trip to neighboring Belgium, his office said.

Currently, there is an increase in morbidity in France.

Due to the positive test result, his Belgian counterpart Alexander De Croo and four other ministers immediately went into quarantine, as they met with Castex at talks in Brussels earlier on Monday.

Castex will adjust its schedule for the next ten days to continue working in isolation.

The Prime Minister’s office did not specify whether he had symptoms of the disease.
