At the end of last year, Qualcomm introduced the top-end Snapdragon 888 processor, and is now preparing an improved version for the announcement.
Presumably, it will be a Snapdragon 888+ chip, if we follow the logic of the names Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+. And the new model has already appeared in the Geekbench benchmark database.
The big change over the regular Snapdragon 888 is the X1’s overclocked performance core, which clocks in at 3.0GHz up from 2.84GHz on the old model. The test shows four low-power A55 cores running at 1.8 GHz and three additional Cortex-A78 clusters running at 2.4 GHz.
The Snapdragon 888+ scores 1,171 in the single-core test and 3,704 in the multi-core test, which is in line with the Snapdragon 888.
Most likely, the new processor will be presented in July, and smartphones with it are expected in the second half of the year. According to rumors, one of the first to receive the new processor is the Honor smartphone.
