The commander of the joint NATO forces in Europe spoke at a hearing in the Senate.

Russia has repeatedly fired hypersonic missiles at Ukrainian military facilities, U.S. Air Force General Tod Wolters, Commander-in-chief of NATO’s joint forces in Europe, said at a Senate hearing on Tuesday.

“Most of these strikes were carried out on specific military targets,” he said.

On March 19, Russia announced that it had used hypersonic Dagger missiles to destroy a large weapons depot in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Dagger missile systems belong to a new generation of high-precision weapons and are equipped with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles that are difficult to recognize by air and missile defense systems.

The strike on targets in Western Ukraine is the first known case of Russia using such missiles in real combat conditions.
