Google allowed stores to flag themselves on the map as “temporarily closed”. The company said that these measures will help support business owners who have to close because of the coronavirus and warn customers. About this writes EnGadget.
The new feature will allow people to find out what time stores nearby are open and whether it is worth going to a particular store from home. This, according to the company’s plans, will reduce the time spent in public spaces and reduce the risk of the spread of a new type of coronavirus.
Google My Business users can take advantage of the “Close this company on Google” menu option. This section now displays three options: “Mark as temporarily closed”, “Mark as permanently closed” and “Delete”.
Prior to launching this feature, Google relied solely on information from governments and other reputable sources when closing companies, the newspaper notes.
The company noted that they use artificial intelligence in order to clarify information about temporary closure with store owners.
