Google TV has got a mobile Android remote control

Finally, users will be able to control the Google TV interface using an Android device, the source said. Google announced this feature back in May, so it has been a long time coming.

It will be useful for those who are inclined to lose the remote control (provided that they do not lose their phone, of course). The function will not only allow you to control the viewing using controls and menu navigation, but will also significantly speed up the entry of passwords and the search for the names of movies and TV shows.

Currently, this feature is only available on Android devices, and it has not yet been announced when – or if it will appear at all – on iOS devices. On the other hand, the mobile remote has long been a part of the Apple ecosystem, provided that the Apple TV is used, so the owners of the corresponding technology definitely do not feel deprived.

Google TV is currently available on Google Chromecast devices as well as some Sony TVs. Google says the mobile remote will also support Android TV devices.

There are two ways to start using your mobile remote. You can add a remote tile to Quick Settings from your Android device or through the Google TV app. The Google TV app is rolling out gradually and will launch in 14 more countries in the coming weeks, according to Google.
