Guillermo del Toro spent 16 years writing scripts that never got filmed

The 56-year-old director Guillermo del Toro is rightfully called the king of modern horror films. Over the course of his life, he has directed, produced and written scripts for dozens of films, but he could have done even more.

Guillermo admitted that, according to his calculations, he spent 16 years of his life writing scripts that never saw the light of day. However, he does not believe that it was wasted time, but takes it for an experience.

“According to my calculations, I have written or participated in the writing of about 33 scripts. 2-3 of them were filmed by other directors, 11 were directed by me. So about 20 scripts were not used. Each takes 6-10 months of work, so in total it took about 16 years. But this is experience and skill development,” he said on his Twitter.

Now the master is actively working on a remake of the film “Alley of Nightmares”. It will be a film in a horror setting, which in the course of the plot destroys the atmosphere of mysticism and gives the viewer a logical explanation of what is happening.
