The UN Secretary General also said that the world should get access to Russian fertilizers and food.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reported on progress in negotiations aimed at removing obstacles to the export of grain stored in Ukrainian ports and ensuring unrestricted access of Russian food and fertilizers to world markets.

“I think there is progress, but we have not yet achieved the final results,” Guterres said, adding that “these are very difficult things” because “everything is interconnected.”

Russia’s war in Ukraine has led to the blocking of the country’s Black Sea ports, which is why food exports to many developing countries have stopped.

Guterres reiterated that the world should have access to Russian fertilizers and food, “which is also very important for global markets in the current situation.”
