Hackers have learned to hack computers through video cards

Hackers have developed a method to gain control of the video card by bypassing security systems.

Journalists drew attention to information from one of the hacker forums: a new method of hacking a computer through a virus in the graphics processor was described there.

Judging by the screenshots from the forum, it is Russian-speaking. An anonymous author told how to hide malicious code in the graphics processor of a video card and then execute it on the victim’s PC. According to him, this code cannot be found using an antivirus, since the program only scans the device’s RAM.

The hacker has already tested the method on Intel graphics cards (UHD 620/630 series), AMD Radeon RX 5700, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 740M, GTX 1650), as well as Radeon and GeForce.

On August 25, the hacker announced that he had sold his development. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Such malware can be used, for example, for hidden cryptocurrency mining.
