Harris canceled participation in events in support of the governor of California

Upon returning from a tour of Asia, the vice president will go directly to Washington.

Vice President Harris canceled planned campaign speeches in support of California Governor Gavin Newsom after the terrorist attacks near the Kabul airport, killing 13 American servicemen.

According to NBC News, Harris planned to speak with the governor of California on Friday after returning from a trip to Asia. Instead, she will go directly to Washington.

“After a visit to the joint base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, the Vice president will return to Washington, DC this afternoon,” Simone Sanders, a spokeswoman for Harris, wrote on Twitter.

A spokesman for Newsom’s staff confirmed to NBC News that Harris had abandoned plans to speak in support of the governor.
